Chinese / Japanese. What about Vietnamese?
Quick……. give me the first word you think of when someone says Vietnam. I venture to say most answered war. News flash - the war is over people. Tragically the United States lost approximately 60,000 troops, the North Vietnamese army had 1.1 million casualties, and both sides incurred insurmountable injuries. For most Americans in the early 60’s, the war put Vietnam on the map. The country was thrust into our consciousness like it or not. Seemingly overnight we were given a backstage pass to a culture full of intriguing people that post war became integrated into our very own landscape bringing with them centuries old traditions, values, beliefs, and cuisines. Today Vietnamese is one of the healthiest cuisines in the world.
